Bio-degradable, plastic-like materials are used in this technology to form the tissue where outer shape of an organ is formed that protects the cells from damage. The tissue allows nutrients and oxygen from the body to diffuse into the structures which promotes cell growth. Other benefits, which can be derived from 3D bioprinting, include developing high-throughput 3D-bioprinted tissue models for drug discovery and toxicology.
