The Increasing Residential Construction Sector in Middle East have Boosted the Market for UV Stabilizers.

Published By: IndustryARC Published On : 23-Nov-2017

The market for UV stabilizers is growing across all the regions owing to its increased usage in coatings that are used in residential construction for reducing the effect of photo-degradation. In Middle East the construction industry is robust. In fact the government of various Middle East nations are investing and planning a lot towards construction sector. Moreover there are various Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) that are aiming for new projects in Middle East due to its rising economy. For example Sheffield holdings plans two new Dubai towers worth $326 million. Being a sunny country and with such major construction the market for UV stabilizer will also increase owing to its usage in the coatings and the polymer applications that will be used in the construction sector. Moreover the government of Oman have awarded second package of tenders for infrastructure works in Liwa City. The tender will be a massive of $1.3 billion and will include the construction of infrastructure for water, electricity, drainage, irrigation, and communication networks. The project includes construction and consultancy works for the site as well as construction and lighting of internal roads together with water crossings. All this infrastructure works will increase the demand of UV absorbers, Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers (HALS) and also the blends of it that are mixed with coatings and polymers effectively for preventing photo-degradation. Moreover Arabtec Holding subsidiary, Target, has been awarded a $53.4m contract to conduct main works for Phase 1 of Emaar Properties’ Forte project in Downtown Dubai. All this effectively shows that the construction and infrastructure rate of Middle East nations is quite robust thus propelling the market for UV stabilizer as most of the Middle East nations are sunny countries.

BASF SE, which is one of the key players in the market, has launched Tinuvin and Tinuvin DW which are light stabilizing additives and are quite suitable for water and solvent borne coatings, adhesive and sealants thus filtering harmful UV light and acting as free radical scavengers to maintain their aesthetic appeal as well as their chemical and physical properties. This Tinuvin range provides both types of light stabilizers that is UV absorber (UVAs) and Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers (HALS) and also their blends. UVA filter harmful UV light and help prevent color change and delamination of coatings, adhesives and sealants. HALS trap free radicals once they are formed and are effective in retaining surface properties such as gloss and prevent cracking and chalking of paints.  The combination of these two chemistries is highly synergistic. These light stabilizers offer solutions for early all types of coatings including solvent borne, waterborne and UV curable systems thus also protecting the wood furniture and various other wood accessories used in construction such as decking.
