Building information modeling (BIM) can be defined as the development and use of computer-generated n-dimensional (n-D) models to control, simulate plan, design, construction, and operation of a facility. Building information modeling (BIM) is viewed as the next generation process in the construction industry and is useful for designing buildings and managing the project data for crucial decisions to be taken. Building information modeling also helps reduce costs, save time, and improve the speed of the process. BIM is emerging in developed and developing countries with a relatively lower turnaround time in developing countries as the building information modeling software are expensive. Government regulations and increasing need for optimizing the process is expected to be the crucial factors for the growth of the BIM software during the period of study.

Building Information Modeling Market

Geographically North America is expected to account for the largest share of the overall building information modeling market in 2016 due to higher usage of technologies in various construction practices. North America was followed by Europe and Asia-Pacific as second and third largest market for building information modeling. The market in Asia-Pacific is expected to grow at the highest rate, due to fast growing construction industry in major economies like India and China with several mega projects are lined up and adoption of technology and western practices to make construction structures more strong and reliable and increase its lifetime.
