Isosorbide is a white heterocyclic compound that is mainly derived from glucose and widely used in different medical applications. It is used in preparation of diuretic drug and employed in the treatment of diseases such as glaucoma and hydrocephalus. It is usually used in the form of polymers such as polycarbonates, polyesters in various applications such as liquid crystal displays in pharmacy, farm chemicals and fodder amongst others.
