Bottled fuel additives are aftermarket products which are added by the end-user directly to fuel in a motor vehicle or engine to improve the performance of the fuel, engine and to reduce emissions. Growing awareness towards the reduction of carbon footprint and toxic emissions has led to an upsurge in the demand for lubricant additives that are free from metals and other pollutant compounds. Increase in use of non-ferrous alloys, metals and their premature deterioration in lubricating systems is yet another reason which is driving the growth of bottled fuel additives market. Environmental regulations and growing automotive production across the globe are some of the other factors which provide impetus to the demand. As automobile industry is obligated to follow the emission standards delivered by the government, sales for automotive exhaust systems and its components are increasing. Higher sale of automobiles will lead to high consumption of fuels as well as lubricants, and consecutively higher usage of bottled fuel additives.

The bottled fuel additive market has been segmented into the types of fuel additives used by end-user industries such as, detergents, cetane improvers, corrosion inhibitors, antioxidants, metal deactivators, demulsifiers, flow improvers octane improvers and others. On the basis of application the market is classified into diesel, gasoline, biofuel, industrial fuel, marine fuel, aviation fuel and other applications.

Bottled Fuel Additives Market

The entire geography of the report is analyzed into Americas, Europe, APAC and RoW.  Americas contributes major share in the revenue in 2015. The share growth was due to increase in demand for clean fuel and better performance of vehicles, government regulations and awareness to reduce gas emissions.

The key players in bottled fuel additives market include:
  • The Lubrizol Corporation (The U.S),
  • BASF SE (Germany),
  • Afton Chemical Corporation (The U.S),
  • Innospec Inc. (The U.S),
  • Clariant AG (Switzerland) and others.

The research methodology adopted for estimating the bottled fuel additives market focusses on the end user segment of the industry.  As the initial step of calculating global market, the process focused at collecting the oil (petrol/diesel) consumption of various countries among the four regions. Then country wise split of end user by type was collected based on historical data from respective organizations. The determination of market segmentation considered product offerings and the revenues were derived for a country based on the volumes. Market forecast was based on data collected from key company revenues and material costs through secondary research. The data was verified through primary research by conducting extensive interviews with key people such as CEOs, VPs, directors and executives. This data triangulation and market breakdown procedures along with bottom up approach were employed to complete the overall market engineering process and to arrive at the exact statistics for all segments and sub segments.
