Automated Non-Destructive Testing Equipment a Boon for Process Industries.
The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)provides significant contribution in the process industries. The usage of NDT helps in improving the product quality, reducing the scatter in properties, improves the process economy and also helps to minimize scrap. During the past few years NDT technique is not only being used for the final inspection of the product but also during the manufacturing process by continuously monitoring and sometimes controlling the process quality. A most recent approach is the real-time model based quality control through process measurable such as force, pressure and temperature among others. Through this system, equipment users can detect the process disturbance on the basis of a known control model and could readjust or adapt the process as per their quality requirement on real-time basis. Automated NDT can perform all the functions of SPC (Statistical Process Control) in a faster and the data generated is more real-time.
Infratec, a German manufacturer of NDT equipment released their Imagel R as a part of their infrared camera series for thermography. The new series is developed to operate for demanding measuring and inspection tasks and is embedded with a CAN port. The Imagel series has number ports on the front and backside with Gigabit-Ethernet, CAM-Link ports, trigger interface, CAN interface, EIA232 and USB ports located on the backside. The front side is adjusted with ports for external sensors, motor focus and zoom lenses. The main fields of application for the Imagel R series infrared camera are in aerospace technology, automotive industry, mechanical engineering, and electronics, and glass, plastic and steel industries. They can also be used for Non-destructive testing of materials (NDT), quality assurance and also for object detection and surveillance.
