Polycarboxylics are chemical compounds derived from carboxylic acids and these polymers find applications in construction, water treatments, oilfields and refineries, manufacturing and in HVAC systems. The water soluble polymers that are derived from polycarboxylic acids have seen major applications in water treatment. The derivatives of polycarboxylic acids are polycarboxylates, phosphonates, polyphosphates, metal salts and sulfonates. The polymers from carboxylic acids are readily prepared by copolymerization of carboxylic monomers with other co monomers by free radical polymerization system. Hydrophilic polymers, also derived from carboxylic acids are prepared by copolymerization of acrylics with acrylates threw distillation process.
