Acetohydroxamic acid is a drug which is primarily used to treat urinary tract infections. It is derived from hydroxylamine and ethyl acetate. Acetohydroxamic acid prevents the growth of bacterial enzyme which then stops the hydrolysis of urea and brings down the production of ammonia in urine. A key driver for the market is the rise in urinary tract infections associated with proteus mirabilis.  With the number of cases increasing year on year, acetohydroxamic acid is high in demand. Acetohydroxamic acid decreases the effect of urea splitting bacteria which causes urinary tract infections. This bacteria affects babies, individuals above the age of 60 and those individuals who have some form of a spinal problem. These are the different age groups and individual types that will contribute to the demand for acetohydroxamic acid.

As of now, the North American market contributes the highest to the overall acetohydroxamic acid market, followed by Europe. APAC's contribution may not be as high as the other regions, however, with an increasing number of lifestyle related diseases taking place, the APAC region will have the highest growth rate during the forecast period but will not be the leading contributor during the forecast period. A primary reason as to why North America is the leading contributor as of date is because of the high number of diabetic cases in the region. Further to this, the population of the elderly group of individuals is high, especially in the US and has been high in comparison to the other regions for quite some time. As such, the elderly population in itself is a large number for urinary tract infections and hence, a high demand for acetohydroxamic acid. The APAC region is also witnessing an increase in the growth of its elderly population, however, the demand will mostly come from diabetic individuals in the region which is currently on the rise because of a number of lifestyle related issues. Acetohydroxamic acid will continue to see a high demand from the medical sector in the coming years and will also invite a number of new companies to invest in this market.
