An Oscilloscope is a testing and measuring device which is used to monitor voltage or current which is passed to or received from an electronic device. There are two types of oscilloscopes, i.e, analog and digital. Over the last 5 years, the contribution of the digital oscilloscope has outpaced that of the analog oscilloscope. This is understandable from the fact that many complex and advanced electronic devices are tested using an oscilloscope, and in order to have the testing and measurement don accurately, a digital readout is required. The digital readout is possible with a digital oscilloscope and the readings can be stored for future tests on the device. Analog oscilloscopes are still used, however, for less advanced and complicated electronic devices.

In terms of geographic contribution, each of the three regions have almost equal contribution to the oscilloscope market with the APAC leading by a slight margin ahead of the Americas and Europe. A vast amount of electronic manufacturing and assembly takes place in the APAC region and this contributes to the growth of the oscilloscope market in the region.
