Methylene chloride also known as dichloromethane (DCM) is a colourless, volatile liquid with a slight sweet odour. Methylene chloride is manufactured by reacting methane or methyl chloride with chlorine gas in a distillation process. Globally, rising demand from paints & coatings market, growing end-user industries such as adhesives & sealants, textiles and pharmaceutical, development in demand from fluorocarbons, and rising demand for HFC-32 are the prime growth drivers of global methylene chloride market. In addition, increase in adoption of methylene chloride for application in newer industrial vertical, and emerging economies such as China, India and others, will create new opportunities for global methylene chloride market. However, volatile prices and availability of raw materials, availability of substitute compounds, and stringent government regulations are the key restraints for global methylene chloride market.
