Microdisplays can be defined as small displays which require magnifying optics to use them. Such displays are made of a CMOS chip which uses a two dimensional array of transistors. Microdisplays are generally used in head mounted displays, projectors, view finders, or in other lens view display systems in combination with the liquid crystal material, a cover glass yields a reflective LCD. The display industry has witnessed some tremendous developments in display technologies from the heaviest cathode ray tube (CRT) displays to energy efficient organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays with existing display ranges from extra large size to just an inch. Globally, increasing usage of mobile and handheld devices together with the latest innovations in AR technology are expected to remain the growth drivers for microdisplays during the period of study.
